The Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer have been out for several years now and many bloggers absolutely adore them. I have a pretty large collection of lip products so I don’t usually reach for them. But if you prefer gloss over lipstick, or shiny over matte then you’ll probably love them.
Many lines have churned out gloss balms and with their semi-recent popularity I wanted to share my favourite line, The Covergirl Lipperfection Jumbo Gloss Balms. I definitely prefer them over the Clinique Chubby Sticks which are a MUA favourite. And at $4.99-$7.99 (depending on where you shop) I don’t think they can be beat the price and colour selection.
I’ve always had very fine hair but since starting university 3 years ago I’ve lost a significant amount of it. I’m not too sure if it’s due to stress, prolonged use of hair styling tools or a combo of both, but I’m always willing to try volumizing or thickening products.
I used to love the Big Sexy Hair RootPump, as it gave me tons of volume. But I hated the way the product settled on the scalp, making it feel itchy and that it needed to be washed after the first day.
Instead I started using Ojon’s Volume Advance Thickening Spray which I get from the Estée Lauder warehouse sales at 2 for $12. It leaves no residue, smells great and adds some volume, but not enough for day 2-3.
So I’ve seen these around and finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a few (read: 16) of them. I tried to get a selection of nudes and brights, but somehow they ended up all being quite bright on me. This is the buyer I bought from and with whom I had a very good experience. I ordered them on March 4th and they arrived on April 6th. They did say to expect 6 weeks for shipping so I was more than fine with the timing of their arrival. They were $1.21USD each ($19.36USD total) but with the exchange rate my final cost was $24.76, or $1.55 each, and I paid via Paypal.
One of the things you may notice when you get them is how light the packaging is. There’s 0.155oz in each tube, making it less than the .22oz you get from Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick but more than you get from 0.11oz of Limecrime’s Velvetines. It does feel quite flimsy and you’ll have to be careful not to be too rough with the applicator as they seem like they could be prone to breaking.

It retails for $57.00CAD/has been getting mainly rave reviews but a handful of not so good ones, so I decided to add mine to the bunch.
I prepped my skin by applying a sheet mask (My Beauty Diary Hyaluronic Acid) the night before and emu oil about 20 minutes before application as I heard that this foundation clings to dry patches.
Based on reviews of the foundation I decided to try it once using my fingers to apply and another using a beauty blender, both times I did not use a primer or a setting powder.
Here’s a before and after. I used my fingers initially as I’d heard that NARS products were meant to be applied with makeup from Reddit.
Regardless of the other selection of lipsticks other brands carry MAC has a special place in many of our hearts. They were an industry leader in creating products that worked for women of all different colouring and still have the largest lipstick range of any brand I believe.
I subscribe to the school of thought there are two types of scrubs in this world:
[1. Foaming] and [2. Moisturizing]
and I’m a fiend for the idea of scrubs. I like that they’re supposed to exfoliate my skin and leave it feeling squeaky clean. But, I often find that they aren’t soapy enough or they’re too thick and then I feel like I have a layer of film left on my skin.
Without getting into too much about retail store expansions and slow supply chains our beloved Target is leaving Canada. I headed out to the liquidation sales on the very first day, and have never seen the store so busy. Like many others I soon realized the highest discounts were the 30% off cosmetics and began to stock up.
