Here’s a round-up of all the blushes I own from NARS. I honestly don’t have much to say about them, as the quality & shade range speaks for itself. I also appreciate that NARS does right by WOC again and again in their shade selection. I own a lot of blush from a lot of brands, but I only reach for the NARS ones on a day-to-day basis.
I’ve ordered them from my most to least favourite, based on what’s flattering for my skin-tone. Please keep in mind that I really over-applied them so you can see the shades. You can also zoom to really see the differences between the multitude of pinks.
Here are the shades on a full face!
The clear winner, Taj Mahal. I love orange on darker skin and the gold shimmer catches light beautifully.
New, and probably limited edition for the Sarah Moon collection, this blush has quickly found a space in my heart as a favourite. I like that it’s a little bright without being unwearable for day-to-day and it also has a really beautiful silver pearl to it.
Taos pulls a little peachy on me and I love it for those days when I’m looking for something a little more natural. It blends out easily but takes a few swipes to get the colour to show up.
Dolce Vita is applied heavily here, so it looks quite bright. However, I would say it’s as easy to wear as Taos. It’s just a little more rosy, and thus a little less flattering than Taos, in my opinion.
This one is low on my list because it rarely suits the eyeshadow looks I wear on a daily basis. But, I think it’s beautiful – especially on people with skin tones darker than mine. I also don’t use it as often because the matte finishes are more difficult to work with than the shimmer finishes. It’s much easier to over-apply a shade like this, compared to shades like Taj Mahal.
There’s nothing wrong with this light-medium pink, I just prefer Impudique and Dolce Vita to Amour. I think Amour might be a little too cool toned for my skin and makes me look a little sallow and green. It’s also harder to apply, this shade definitely takes the most swipes to pick up any colour. I’m also really sorry the lighting is different in this one, I forgot this blush at Uni and had to use an older pic
Even with a light hand this shade usually ends up looking this bright on me. It’s beautifully pigmented, but imo a little too deep/bright for my skin tone. I also find the golden shimmer overwhelming and it emphasizes my pores and skin problems. It’s also quite difficult to blend out but on the right person I think this would look wonderful.
In real life this one barely shows up on my skin, I really packed it on for the photos and I’m also not partial to the silver in it. I’m sure this will be a favourite for many of you, because it’s much more subtle than the other shades I’ve featured. However, you have to remember that this is probably 5-6 swatches of colour. In real life I probably look like a powdery mess.
As I’ve said I highly recommend these blushes. If you can only get one blush or one new product to save up for, it should be a NARS blush. They last 6-8 hours on me easily and always add a natural flush of colour.
In these photos I’m also wearing:
- L’Oreal Infallible foundation in Soft Sable
- NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Café
- ABH Brow Wiz in Dark Brown
- Pat McGrath Black Dual Ended Marker
- Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
- Ardell 110 Lashes
- Sephora Retractable waterproof eyeliner in 08 Brown
I hope these swatches were helpful!
