Too Faced The Chocolate Shop

At the VIB Rouge Holiday Preview I purchased this Too Faced ‘The Chocolate Shop’ set for $72CAD. It’s valued at $347CAD according to Sephora.

I decided to pick this set up because I’m always on the hunt for more warm brown shades and Too Faced holiday palettes are consistently popular.

I’ve used the palette to create 3 looks that Too Faced suggested in their attached pamphlet. I’ve got nothing on my brows, lashes, or skin.

Obviously, this first one is not a WOC-friendly look. But I thought it would be useful to see how 4 different light shades, which included a light pink and a silver, can meld together to look like 1¬†shade of white. I wanted to demonstrate how useless half of the palette will be for WOC, although that is also the case for most palettes. I personally find it inevitable that a palette will have lots of light shades and as such I don’t hold it as a detriment when reviewing.

Variations of this look it what I most commonly wear. I particularly love Butterscotch and Toffee Crunch for my everyday look.

And finally, my favourite bright look for the holidays.

We all know that bold looks are always a good choice for darker skin. However, I found that Mint Chip went a little frost blue rather than forest green when paired with a silver shade. I would prefer it with Honey Dip or Butterscotch next time.

Some of the more shimmery shades kicked off a little powder but nothing awful, and I don’t get any fallout on my lids.¬†All of the shades perform well with a primer underneath and are highly pigmented.

Luminizer in Inner Light, Blush in Chocolate Covered Strawberry, and Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in the hollows of the cheek.

I did not purchase this set because of the cheek products. The highlighter and blush are nice enough, but I don’t think anyone was expecting Chocolate Soleil to show up (I piled it on for this pic). It will work well for a eyeshadow base though.

This set had a Melted Chocolate Liquified Long Wearing Lipstick in Milkshake which was far to light for me. I will be giving it to a friend.

Lastly, there was a Better Than Sex Mascara and a Shadow Insurance eye shadow primer, both of which are longstanding favourites of mine. I love getting these little deluxe samples in sets as I’m always running out of these products.

One negative I see is the lack of mirror. I would have definitely preferred a mirror over the gimmicky packaging the palette came in.

Hope this was useful!
